Donate to Help Stop Hunger

We are very fortunate to be able to see the world and eat anything we desire.  Others around the world are not so lucky and are struggling to get enough food and water to survive.  As a part of this site, we have partnered with Heifer International to accept donations to help end hunger around the world.  Heifer International is a non-profit organization that gives animals and equipment to needy families around the world.  Part of the program that has attracted our attention is their sustainability pledge, in which all participants are taught how to raise their animals in a sustainable fashion.  In addition, each family that receives animals from Heifer International raises them to produce offspring in which are then donated to other families to encourage continued sustainability.

Our choice to partner with Heifer International is two-fold.  First, we like the fact that each donation corresponds to a tangible item donated to those in need.  A simple cost donation gets lost into its actual use, and knowing that your money goes to donate a specific animal is better peace of mind for its use.  Second, as engineers we encourage sustainable systems in all forms of life, and their sustainability pledge is one step towards ending the chain of hunger around the world.

If you wish to donate, please follow this link to head to our donation page in which you can purchase a specific animal or a share of an animal to give to those in need.  All donations from this site will be tallied on the sidebar so we can see how much donations we're pledging!  We will personally be donating 20% of all advertising income through this site to Heifer International as our personal pledge to help end world hunger.

While readership of this site will always remain free, if you are able to donate to the cause of ending world hunger we would be most appreciative.  A donation comparable to what it would take to feed a family a dinner at home could go to purchase a flock of ducks, honey bees, or a share of a water buffalo.  The following is a list of the current donation prices for each specific animal.  The first cost is the full purchase cost of the animal(s) and the second cost listed when applicable is for a share of the animal with other donations as the full amounts for some are fairly high.  Further descriptions of each donation can be found on our registry page.
